Laurence Fusillo
Graduating from the Doctor of Optometry course at the University of Melbourne in 2016, Laurence has established himself as an independent optometrist working at Acuity Eyecare in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne. Laurence relishes the opportunity to practice wide-scope optometry, and has built strong inter-professional relationships throughout his local community, which sparked a keen interest in increasing public awareness around the important role that optometrists play in primary eye care. This led to a collaboration with the Vision Initiative 2020 campaign, where Laurence presented to various community groups on the importance of regular eye health checks in maintaining good vision for life. Laurence also enjoys his work mentoring and teaching University of Melbourne Optometry students, including those in their final year on placement with him, and those starting on their optometry journey in the pre-clinical space. He believes in the challenge of making what he is teaching clinically relevant, reinforcing the WHY and not just the HOW of each technique.
